


This time around, EA doesn't appear to want to compete with Steam either, as the publisher will continue releasing games across multiple PC platforms, including Steam, Epic Games Store and its own EA Desktop app. When the rebranding and re-launch takes place, the EA Origin brand will be put to bed completely. The publisher will still have its own launcher, known currently as the EA Desktop App, but it will be a completely revamped experience, described as a “next-generation PC gaming platform”. Now, the next step is to eliminate Origin.ĮA is doing away with Origin at some point. Since then, the EA/Origin Access subscription service has been rebranded to EA Play, the service has been made available on Steam and as part of Xbox Game Pass. What do you think about this switch? Any information on potential changes on their platform is still months away. Mac users can remain calm, as they will be able to continue using Origin on their systems for the time being. Does this mean that access to some titles is irreversibly lost? It’s hard to say at this time, but it’s well worth looking at the list of games available for both launchers and contacting EA support before deciding to switch to the new program. However, the rollout isn’t going as smoothly as EA would like, as some players are reporting that not all of their Origin purchases appeared in the EA app. Your Origin friends list will also migrate to the new software. All saved games, be they stored locally or in the cloud, will also be transferred, so you don’t need to worry about losing any progress in your favorite releases. Electronic Arts promises that all of your games, additional content, and the already installed titles will be available to you as soon as you log into the EA app. Gamers will be gradually receiving invites to transfer onto the new platform.

When you log in to the launcher, you will see a notification saying that later this year, the EA app for Windows will replace Origin as the destination for purchasing, downloading, and playing EA games. EA is officially saying goodbye to Origin.
